just some fanart of an obscure show, you might have heard of it.

one of the more interesting things to me about nge is how it totally failed as a critique of the industry. characters like asuka and rei, who (ive seen argued, convincingly) are supposed to make fanboys feel gross about how they relate to female characters in anime just became archetypes for the next generations of fetish-objects in anime post-nge, and pretty much everything that’s happened to the series since the end of the TV run has been a turn away from the (often rather harsh) introspection and towards the sort of relation to violence that nge so powerfully depicts as destructive and dangerous
I can’t believe how long it took me to realize that the “nagging wife” sitcom stereotype is literally just “useless husband is incapable of doing his share of the housework despite being repeatedly asked” framed to demonize the woman

You don’t need to be better than any one else you just need to be better than you used to be.
If you love a flower, don’t pick it up. Because if you pick it up, it dies and it ceases to be what you love. So if you love a flower, let it be. Love is not about possession. Love is about appreciation.
A lot of terrifying “activists” direct their energy at whoever seems the easiest to manipulate, not who seems the most to blame for a given form of social harm…
